The story of Thanksgiving

·         In 1620, a group of people, the Pilgrims, sailed from England to America.

·         There were 100 people on the ship, called Mayflower.

·         They want to start a new lift in America and practice their religion in freedom.

·         They landed at  a place on the north-east coast of America.

·         They called it Plymouth.

·         They were far from their home, and life was hard.

·         They had little food and knew little about their new home.

·         Their first winter was very cold and many of them became sick and died.

·         However, the Native Americans who lived there decided to help them.

·         They showed the Pilgrims how to grow corn and other plants.

·         They also gave them medicine to treat their illinesses.

·         They taught the Pilgrims how to hunt for food and build better houses.

·         The Pilgrims worked hard and their crops grew.

·         By November 1621, all of them had food and home.

·         To thank the Native Americans, the Pilgrims invited them to a dinner.

·         The dinner lasted for three days.

·         This dinner was the first Thanksgiving.
